THE OEA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Scholarship Summary

The OEA Scholarship, sponsored by the Orange Education Association, is awarded to two seniors who attend Orange High School, Twilight U, or STEM Academy of the Oranges and plan to further their education at an accredited college, university, or trade school in the United States.

The two recipients of this scholarship will be awarded $500 each to spend at their discretion.

Applicants must compose and submit a narrative following the required prompt for evaluation by the OEA Scholarship Committee. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, employer, supervisor, or community member will be evaluated also. The submission of an official transcript is required as evidence of eligibility only.

Who Can Apply?

If you answer yes to all of the following questions, you are eligible to apply!

Are you a current senior at Orange High School,  Twilight U, or STEM Academy of the Oranges?

Are you a resident in
Orange, New Jersey?

Do you have a cumulative
GPA of 2.3 or higher?

Will you have met or exceeded 60 community service hours by Sunday, May 15, 2022?

Writing Prompt:

What distinguishes you from other students who apply for our scholarship? Discuss your personal growth over the past four years and the experiences that have contributed to who you are today. Use this opportunity to tell us something we cannot see just by looking at your grades and test scores.

Application Timeline

A completed application with all required
documents must be received on or before
midnight on May 15, 2022.
Incomplete applications as well as any applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

Evaluation

Submissions will be evaluated based on their quality and content. The required personal narrative accounts for 75% of the applicant’s final score and their letter of recommendation accounts for 25%.
All applicant submissions will be blindly scored by the OEA Scholarship Committee members.
